“We can do it!” Rosie the Riveter’s iconic phrase still rings true today almost 80 years later causing it to hold fast as a mantra of strong women in the workforce. And while the RV industry has been traditionally patriarchal, The RV Women’s Alliance is shattering any preconceived notions of a woman’s place in the outdoor industry. Recently the RVWA hosted a big reveal for their Drab To Fab project. This labor of love has been going on for over a year, with the dedicated women working on their passion project right through Covid. The organization purchased an old, run-down trailer with the vision of completely revamping it with only women working on it. And the June 23rd reveal hosted at the RV Hall of Fame they proved that women really can do anything.
Unite. Inspire. Recruit. Develop. Those are the 4 pillars of The RV Women’s Alliance mission to impact the industry and the two leaders of the Drab To Fab project, Susan Carpenter and Tracy Anglemeyer, had all of those ideals in mind when they came up with the idea for the massive endeavor. Drab To Fab brought together tons of women from all different areas of the industry inspiring them to take on the challenge of learning new skills. This one project helped women develop new skill-sets and it helped to foster leadership growth in every woman who had a hand on the Drab To Fab project. The Drab To Fab project was not simply about transforming a trailer, it was about sparking something greater to help transform an industry.
It was simply incredible seeing the transformation come to life. And it was truly inspiring to know that women made it happen. The RVWA’s transformed trailer, aptly named The Chrysalis, has blossomed into a beautiful butterfly. The RV Women’s Alliance is making big moves in the industry and they’re seeing lots of support from countless other industry partners, including Coach-Net.
